Triathlete Dan Wilson is looking forward to a fresh start in 2010. 
 
He had a horror run in the 2009 World Championship Series with sickness and race conditions affecting his performances but despite posting two DNFs (Washington, Gold Coast) and a 46th place (Kitzbuhel), Wilson managed to finish 23rd overall in the Series.  In Tongyeong, South Korea, in May he finished 13th while in London in early August he finished 28th. His best result was in Yokohama, the race leading into the Grand Final, where he finished 9th. 
 
In the lead up to the 2009 World Championship Series he won Race Five of the USM Gatorade Series at Caloundra and a week later finished just one second behind Atkinson at the Australian Sprint Championships in Hobart. In early March he won Bronze at the Oceania Championships on the Gold Coast, finishing behind Kahlefeldt and Atkinson, and moved up the World Rankings to eighth position.  On the eve of finishing sixth at the Mooloolaba Triathlon he was awarded the 'Chris Hewitt' emerging athlete award at the Triathlon Australia Awards.

After elevating his World Ranking to sixth at Mooloolaba, Wilson was named in the Australian 'B' team to contest the World Cup teams relay event in Des Moines, USA at the end of June. He was named behind Kahlefeldt, Atkinson, Emma Snowsill and Emma Moffatt. Unfortunately for Wilson one of his team mates had a heart condition and the team had to pull out.

Wilson competed for Australia at U23 level until 2007 and during that time competed in four Australian Championships and finished third at the 2006 World Championships. He has been in the AIS squad since 2007 and was a member of the Australian Elite Squad in 2008. He has had nine World Cup top 15 finishes.
