This corageous Magpie was drafted from Diamond Creek in 2003 and made his AFL debut in 2005. In 2006, just his second year, Shaw placed fourth in the Collingwood Best & Fairest and won the Gavin Brown Award as the most corageous player and the Phose Kyne Award for his services to the club. He also placed third in the AFL Rising Star Award. In 2007 Shaw won the ANZAC Day Medal after Collingwood's clash with Essendon and finished the club Best & Fairest count in fifth position, taking home the Jack Regan Trophy.



Season 2009
24-year-old Shaw had an outstanding season playing 21 games including three finals and winning the JJ Joyce Trophy (3rd in Collingwood's Best & Fairest). He averaged 23 disposals and picked up a career-high 34 disposals in Round 22 against the Western Bulldogs where he also took 5 marks. He was awarded the Bob Rose Award as the best player in the finals.



Season 2008
The 2008 and season was one of highs and lows for Shaw. In round seven he collected 34 possessions against Hawthorn, his highest ever, and took 16 marks which was also a personal best. He averaged 20 disposals for the season but after playing 18 games was handed a club imposed suspension and did not play again for the remainder af the season.
