Snapshot

A Tasmanian swing bowler, he won his first Cricket Australia contract for the 2007-08 summer after a stellar 2006-07 campaign in which he made his one-day international and Twenty20 debut for Australia and topped the wicket-taking list in the Pura Cup, playing a pivotal role in the Tasmanian Tigers' historic first four-day domestic title.

Such was his outstanding form that he was named Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year and, after narrowly missing selection for the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies, was chosen to represent Australia at the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in September 2007.

He made his test debut in South Africa in February 2009 where he took his first test wicket with just his second ball. He was then put on ice, missing the South African one-day and T20 series, so he could recover from a niggling back injury before the 2009 Ashes.  He was the pick of the bowlers in the Ashes series with 22 wickets at 27.45 and was then taken to India for the one-day series despite problems with knee tendonitis.

In November he played his first test in Australia, against the West Indies in Brisbane and was named Man of the Match but unfortunately missed the remainder of the season through injury.
