Brendan Fevola's iWatch raises cash for the National Stroke Foundation

21 July 2010

Article from the Courier Mail.

Sure, he's had his dramas with mobile phones in the past, but Brendan Fevola could be on to a winner with an invention that links his phone to his watch.

The Brisbane Lion came up with the iWatch concept to raise cash for the National Stroke Foundation and their Stroke of Genius competition.

Late yesterday, Fev's handiwork was the most-viewed invention of all the celebs online, including Mark Beretta, Tim Costello and John Michael 'Hollywood' Howson.

Fevola says inspiration hit him while waiting for the team bus in Melbourne last month.

A self-confessed clock-watcher, he thought it'd be easier to see texts, appointments and missed calls on his wrist.

The iWatch is designed for busy athletes and "late night socialites who are always at risk of misplacing their mobile phones or having them stolen or damaged".

The recently-separated Fev also got a laugh out of the "spooning website" dreamed up by comic Dave Thornton.

"People who are feeling crook or lonely can request a spooning partner online, or you can offer your own spooning services in return on the Internet," he says. "So a great idea and pretty funny so that's my favourite one."
